We welcome people to St Anthony’s on a short- or long-term basis and offer respite placements as well.

Our passionate belief is that moving into St Anthony’s isn’t the end of one’s life, it is simply a step in life’s journey. We are here to make sure each person will lead the best possible life.

Moving someone into a care home is often difficult for families and friends. We are committed to being there for everyone, ensuring that their loved one settles happily, so that they can be reassured they have made the right choice with our home.

We have created a welcoming ‘home from home’ feeling. When residents join us, we consider their background, needs, choices, passions, and interests. We will usually have a transitional plan to cater for people during their first few weeks. Once we get to know them better, we revise the plan to be more specific to their needs.

We are fortunate that St. Anthony’s is located in an idyllic rural setting but with easy access to the local area. We have beautiful and extensive grounds, and the building has been specifically adapted to meet the needs of our residents.

  • All bedrooms and bathrooms have fixed tracking hoists.
  • We have a large lounge with a cinema-style screen, a large dining area and a life skills room with an accessible kitchen.
  • Our pretty garden, featuring a waterfall and sensory areas, has recently enjoyed a ‘spring clean’ with residents and our teams making it inviting and well cared for.
  • Residents can spend time in a large, accessible rehabilitation gym and follow a programme designed for each person’s needs by our in-house physiotherapist.

We work closely with our local community to identify opportunities for volunteering and meaningful activities that contribute to our area. Our rural position allows us to enjoy nature at its best. Residents enjoy watching the horses in the field next to the home.

Our team

We are a team of dedicated and motivated people who care and want to make a difference in people’s lives. Our Registered Nurses are highly skilled in delivering specialist and complex nursing care and have significant experience with tracheostomy or PEG/NG care.

Our approach is to care for people’s physical and health needs, their wellbeing, rehabilitation and community access, and, where appropriate, move to more independent living.

Care and activities

People who choose to live at St Anthony’s care home will enjoy a warm, friendly and fun atmosphere, which feels like a family.

We help everyone to make independent choices throughout the day and be empowered to plan their care and activities.

Each day is different. Our activity coordinator and the care staff know the residents very well. We have a fun, engaging weekly activities plan by respecting their choices and wishes and based on their interests. Residents meet with the activities team every two weeks to review and change the programme where appropriate.

Some of our recent activities included a theatre night and a pub night. One of our residents attends a service at a local church every week. Residents can also take the lead in organising the activities to retain or regain their independence, and our team will support if and when required.

Our regular activities include sewing, reading, a quiz night and memory groups, which are much-loved ways we come together in the home.
